  What Is The Motor Trader Approval Scheme?

Cheshire trading Standards Service was the first to introduce a Garage Approval Scheme in January 1998. This scheme proved very successful but only applied to garages carrying out repairs and servicing. In July 2001 the scheme was relaunched to cover the sale of new and used cars as well as repair/service.

The main aims are:

  • to encourage and promote high standards in car sales, servicing and repairs;
  • to improve the image of the motor trade in Cheshire;
  • to increase compliance with consumer legislation;
  • to improve consumer confidence by promoting Approved Traders.
